The project has created over 14ha of new native broadleaved woodland. It includes open spaces of wide management rides, glades, and open ‘frontage’ to the road. The project also includes an mixed fruit orchard and a walnut nuttery.
The open spaces are managed for species rich grassland and where natural regeneration occurs, it will be encouraged and managed to be incorporated into the planted area of the new woodland. An area adjacent to existing Ancient Semi Natural Woodland (ASNW) was planted at a wider spacing than the main body of the woodland specifically to encourage Natural Regeneration.
The site is adjacent to existing broadleaved woodland – Stock Grove and Cole’s Brake and will link the two improving wildlife corridors.
