Forest of Avon and Avon Needs Trees have jointly purchased this site. Since February 2022, volunteers have been helping to plant and care for up to 40,000 trees supplied by the Woodland Trust. The new woodlands will help to connect the Limestone-Link and the Dundry Downs providing new habitat corridors through a mixed landscape including new woodland creation, natural regenerating woodland and open grassland. Great Avon Wood will create habitat and food sources for wildlife such as Chiff Chaffs, Barn Owls, Kites, and Kestrels, and will also care for existing, species rich grassland, where butterflies and wildflowers can thrive. The new woodland will help reduce flood risk in the area by reducing and slowing the rainwater runoff from the land.
