The Forest of Avon is thrilled to introduce www.forestofavon.org – a brand-new website dedicated to celebrating and promoting the incredible work being done for trees and woodlands across the region.
Thanks to funding from the Woodland Trust’s Emergency Tree Fund, this new hub will connect individuals, landowners, and businesses with opportunities to take action for trees and grow the Forest of Avon Partnership. Whether you’re looking to roll up your sleeves and volunteer, apply for tree planting funding, or seek expert guidance on woodland creation, this new hub will help point you in the right direction for activities across the region.

NOTES FOR EDITORS
Forest of Avon is England’s Community Forest for your region, from the Mendips to the Cotswolds, Bristol, Bath and beyond. Your community forest, established in 1992, is dedicated to connecting people to trees and woodlands. Our priorities are increasing tree canopy cover, caring for woodlands and providing specialist woodland health and wellbeing projects.
The Woodland Trust is the largest woodland conservation charity in the UK. It has over 500,000 supporters. It wants to see a UK rich in native woods and trees for people and wildlife.
The Trust has three key aims:
- protect ancient woodland which is rare, unique and irreplaceable
- restore damaged ancient woodland, bringing precious pieces of our natural history back to life
- plant native trees and woods with the aim of creating resilient landscapes for people and wildlife.
Established in 1972, the Woodland Trust now has over 1,000 sites in its care covering approximately 29,000 hectares. Access to its woods is free so everyone can benefit from woods and trees.
The Emergency Tree Fund is administered by the Woodland Trust. It is a vital fund supporting large-scale tree planting efforts across the UK, helping communities and landowners create resilient woodlands that benefit people, nature, and the climate. Planting trees is one of the most effective ways to tackle climate change, enhance biodiversity, and improve well-being. Through the Emergency Tree Fund, we are helping to accelerate tree planting efforts and bring lasting environmental benefits to the region.
