With the aim of bringing orchards into active management to improve the habitat for local wildlife whilst providing training to volunteers in Orchard management. \nFor this session our Project Officer Janine\, will deliver training in the key principles of fruit tree pruning and and practical pruning techniques on young fruit trees. \nAttendees will be taught practical techniques in fruit tree pruning using a variety of tools including hand saws and pole pruners. \nThe day will consist of the training session in the morning and then an afternoon of practicing the techniques learnt under the supervision of Janine. DESCRIPTION:We need help planting trees to create the native\, broadleaved woodlands of the future. \nAs part of our Trees for Climate fund\, we will be planting throughout the winter across Bristol\, Bath\, North East Somerset and South Glos. \nAt this project we will be planting woodland\, wood pasture and a hedge to create habitat and boost biodiversity. \nAll abilities welcome\, tools\, gloves and training provided. You will need to bring sturdy shoes\, weather appropriate clothing and your lunch. \nPlease sign up via our Eventbrite page. \nExact location\, meeting point and parking information will be sent upon signing up – please do not refer to Eventbrite map for directions. Volunteers will need to organise their own transport to site. We encourage lift sharing where possible. Toilets are available on site. \nConnecting with nature and spending time in green spaces has proven benefits to our mental wellbeing and physical health.
