DESCRIPTION:Join the Forest of Avon for a day of Winter fruit tree pruning and orchard care. \nJanine from the Forest of Avon \, will deliver training in Winter fruit tree pruning techniques on the young fruit trees in the community orchard at The Daisy Field Community Orchard. Attendees will be taught the key principles in fruit tree pruning\, and practical techniques in how to effectively prune apple and pear trees. \nThe day will consist of the training session in the morning and then an afternoon of practicing the techniques learnt under the supervision of Janine. All Health and Safety provision will be covered in safety briefing at the start of the session. DESCRIPTION:As part of the ‘Orchard for Pollinators’ Project we are running a programme of practical Community Orchard workshops and volunteer workdays across Bristol\, Bath and South Glos. With the aim of bringing orchards into active management to improve the habitat for local wildlife whilst providing training to volunteers in Orchard management. \nFor this session our Project Officer Janine\, will deliver training in the key principles of fruit tree pruning and practical pruning techniques on trees aged 5 – 10 years of age. \nAttendees will be taught practical techniques in fruit tree pruning using a variety of tools including hand saws and pole pruners. \nThe day will consist of the training session in the morning and then an afternoon of practicing the techniques learnt under the supervision of Janine. All Health and Safety provision will be covered in the safety briefing at the start of the session. \nActivities are not suitable for under 16’s. Unfortunately there are no toilet facilities on site. No skills or expertise required\, all training\, tools and PPE are provided.
